About
"If you don't have time to read, you don't have the time (or the tools) to write. Simple as that." - Stephen King
Who am I? My name is Austin Dilworth. I am 18 years old at the time of writing this. I am a male (though I usually identify as "dead inside) and I am currently enrolled at Delaware County Community College, majoring in general studies. In my spare time I enjoy playing video games, reading, listening to music or watching/listening to videos while I work, walking/traveling, and spending time with my friends and family. I recently got a job working in the cafeteria of a middle school near where I live. There are 4 pets where I live: a dog, a cat, a turtle, and a hamster. At the time of writing, I have no significant other.
Who are my favorite writers/composers? My favorite artist is Metallica, plain and simple. I also have an affinity for the likes of AC/DC and Guns n' Roses and the like, as well as a respect for composers for video games. What are my most enacted writing types? Normally I either write little notes or reminders for myself or simple texts between people for various reasons. However, I do recall back in high school I enjoyed writing about my endeavors in games or in life I thought were memorable. When do I write? There are a few conditions for when I write, the first of which being that I need to have the time to write. The other two reasons coincide with each other, the reasons being that I need to be in the mood to write and that I have to have something that I want to write about. I also write when I need to write something such as assignments and the like. Where do I write? I typically write in places where I have a high work ethic, such as when I'm in school. I typically avoid writing at home anymore due to me really not wanting to do anything. I also typically avoid physically writing things down in favor of digitally due to my very poor handwriting. Why do I write? My reasons for writing vary depending on what exactly I'm writing about. However, there is a general theme of just wanting to have my thoughts written down for future use, be it for personal or professional reasons. I write because I like being able to get my thoughts out of my head, as it can get pretty clogged up in there. How have my past experiences shaped my author identity and how can I reshape my author identity in this course? I suppose that my past experiences have left me wanting to be very introverted. I find myself not necessarily aspiring for much in life because I don't want to be hurt. I've been burned by "friends" in the past and I'd rather not repeat the situation. As such, I don't have much interesting about myself and, by extension, my author identity isn't very interesting. If anything, I suppose this class could be an outlet of sorts for any thoughts I want to get out there, maybe even help get past these ideals, although I have my doubts...
